On August 29, 2026, the Rotary Club of Sta. Lucia Novaliches, together with the Rotaract Club of Lucians Youth, Quezon City, headed by TLP Erna “Jing” Montegrande, came together to bring hope and comfort to our adopted community of Barangay Sta. Lucia, which was affected by flooding caused by the Habagat.
Displaced family evacuees were temporarily sheltered at the Barangay Court and Sta. Lucia Parish; the team focused on providing not only relief but also hope, compassion, and care, a reminder that no family has to face hardship alone. Hygiene kits, diapers, and essential items were distributed to affected families. To bring a little warmth and comfort amid the difficult circumstances, cupcakes and bottled water were shared with evacuees, while energy drinks were given to hardworking volunteers who continued serving despite the challenging conditions.
More than the goods distributed, the project became an expression of compassion and solidarity. Every kit, bottle of water, and simple treat represents a message of hope: that the community matters in times of need and that help can come through caring hands.
Through this relief operation, Rotary and Rotaract members strengthened their commitment to “Service Above Self,” responding quickly and compassionately when their community needed them most. It was a heartfelt reminder that when people unite with generous hearts, even small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference.
